Regional Awards

Regional Chairman’s Award : Team 1727 Rex, Timonium MD  FIRST’s most prestigious award, it honors the team judged to have created the best partnership effort among team participants, and to have best exemplified the true meaning of FIRST. The award helps keep the central focus of the FIRST Robotics Competition on the goal of inspiring greater levels of respect and honor for science and technology.

 

Engineering Inspiration Award: Team 768 TechnoWarriors, Baltimore MD Celebrates outstanding success in advancing respect and appreciation for engineering and engineers within a team’s school and community. This is the second-highest award a team can garner.

 

Woodie Flowers Finalist Award:  Dina Campagna Presented by Small Parts, Inc. to an outstanding engineer or teacher participating in the competition who best demonstrates teaching excellence in teaching science, math, and creative design.

 

Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award: Dr. Anne Spence Recognizes one individual who has actively supported FIRST programs through leadership and personal commitment over an extended period of time, resulting in a sustained impact on the FIRST Regional event

 

Regional Champion: Team 293 S.P.I.K.E, Team 75 RoboRaiders, Team 203 One TUFF Team. Celebrates the team or alliance that wins the Regional competition.

 

Regional Finalist Team 1748 Lab Rats, Team 339 Kilroy, Team 612 Chantilly Robotics Celebrates the team or alliance that makes it to the final match of the Regional competition.

 

DaimlerChrysler Team Spirit Award : Team 1284 D.A.R.T Guntersville, AL Celebrates extraordinary enthusiasm and spirit through exceptional partnership and teamwork

 

Delphi “Driving Tomorrow’s Technology” Award  Team 1418 Vae Victus, Falls Church VA Celebrates an elegant and advantageous machine feature.

 

General Motors Industrial Design Award Team 75 RoboRaiders  Hillsborough, NJ Celebrates form and function in an efficiently designed machine that effectively achieves the game challenge.

 

Johnson & Johnson Sportsmanship Award Team 1111 The Power Hawks, Edgewater MD Celebrates outstanding sportsmanship and gracious professionalism in the heat of competition, both on and off the playing field.

 

Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers Entrepreneurship Award : Team 612 Chantilly, Chantilly, VA Celebrates the entrepreneurial spirit by recognizing a team that, since its inception, has developed the framework for a comprehensive business plan to scope, manage, and achieve team objectives.

 

Motorola Quality Award : Team 293 Team S.P.I.K.E., Pennington NJ.  Celebrates machine robustness in concept and fabrication.

 

Rockwell Automation Innovation in Control Award : Team 1629 Garrett Coalition, McHenry, MD Celebrates an innovative control system or application of control components to provide unique machine functions.

 

XEROX Creativity Award: Team 1599 Atlee Raiders, Mechanicsville, VA Celebrates creativity in design, use of a component, or strategy of play.

 

Highest Rookie Seed Award: Team 2234 Episcopal Academy, Merion, PA.  Celebrates the highest-seeded rookie team at the conclusion of the qualifying rounds.

 

Imagery Award  Team 1719 Umbrella Corporation, Brooklandsville, MD Celebrates attractiveness in engineering and outstanding visual aesthetic integration of machine and team appearance.

 

Underwriters Laboratory Industrial Safety Award : 1727 Rex, Timonium MD Celebrates the team that progresses beyond safety fundamentals by using innovative ways to eliminate or protect against hazards.

 

Rookie All-Star Award : 2234 Episcopal Academy, Merion, PA Celebrates the rookie team exemplifying a young but strong partnership effort, as well as implementing the mission of FIRST to inspire students to learn more about science and technology.

 

Rookie Inspiration Award:  2120 Doncaster, Doncaster, UK, Other Celebrates a rookie team for outstanding effort as a FIRST team in community outreach and recruiting students to engineering.

 

Website Award : 1370 The Blue Charge, Middle Town, DE, Recognizes excellence in student-designed, built, and managed FIRST team websites.

 

Judges’ Awards: 1748, LabRats, Baltimore, MD & 836 RoboBees, Leonardtown, MD During the course of the competition, the judging panel may decide a team’s unique efforts, performance, or dynamics merit recognition.

 

Autodesk Visualization Awards: 1284 D.A.R.T., Guntersville, AL. Presented by Autodesk, Inc. and recognizes excellence in student animation that clearly and

creatively illustrates the spirit of the FIRST Robotics Competition.
